What is colon hydrotherapy?
What is colon hydrotherapy? Colon hydrotherapy is an ancient form of cleansing the colon with water. It is referred to by several names: colon irrigation, colonic, colon therapy or high enema. It is a safe, effective method of removing stored fecal matter, gas, mucus and toxic substances from the colon without the use of drugs. By introducing purified filtered water into the colon, waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis (muscle contraction). This process is repeated many times during a colon hydrotherapy session.
What is a healthy digestive tract?
A healthy digestive tract will have 2 to 3 bowel movements per day. Most people are not aware of this fact. The time it takes for food to be expelled from the body after it is eaten is called transit time. The shorter the transit time, the less food will putrefy before being expelled from the body. A healthy body will have a transit time of 24 to 48 hours. The average transit time for the Western population is 60 to 100 hours. Because of this slow transit time, the walls of the colon become encrusted with un-eliminated waste. The average person can carry up to 10 pounds of old waste in his/her colon.
If you aren’t having 2 to 3 bowel movements everyday, you should consider yourself constipated. Constipation is when bowel movements are infrequent or difficult. Constipation is a condition warning you that your colon is not working properly.
The colon's connection to well being
During early fetal development, the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon develop from the same clump of embryonic tissue as your primary brain. The vagus nerve - the longest of all the cranial nerves - is the direct connection between your brain and your colon. Because of this direct brain-colon connection, the state of your digestive tract has a profound influence on the state of psychological well being (or lack of well being).
